| Quite often, when something happens
at school that
indicates trouble for a child with disabilities, parents seek help from
someone who can "fix it" or "put out the fire." If they find
someone
to do this and merely address the problem at hand, they will not be
prepared
to handle the next problem they encounter. And, there is always a
"NEXT TIME!"
Parents of special needs children
should make it their
business to develop their understanding of the laws that govern the
education
of their child. Then, they will be better able to advocate for
their
child when the need arises... If you don't know how things are
supposed
to be, how can you tell when things are going wrong?
